November is a time of celebration and to be thankful for all that we have and share it with our friends and family. We in the US we celebrate this by taking a full day to reflect on how lucky we are as a nation.
A widely accepted myth is the day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year. This has been disproved to show
that a Thursday or Friday in the midst of Summer will be one of the busiest days of the year. None the less Thanksgiving eve still will be a busy travel day especially for local travel.
Here are a few tips to consider before you leave your home base of Boca Raton.
1. Make a List
Make sure you have everything prepared before you leave. This will not only give you peace of mind, but prevent any unexpected delays. Delays tempt us to break the speed limit unnecessary.
2. Plan Your Route
Even though you may have a portable GPS, one is built into the car or phone the need to prepare a route may not a necessity. However, if it is in an area that you are unfamiliar it may be best to check the route to have a general feel to understand where you should arrive. A great tool is to use Google Maps and take a virtual drive.
3. Top it Off
Make sure that the car’s engine is in tip top shape. Have anything that may be problematic looked at before you take off and take the chance of being stranded. Before you set off have a full tank of gas, so you do not have to take any extra unexpected stops. Do not forget about your tire pressure and windshield washer fluid!
4. Car Charger
A car charger may not be on your list. It’ll come in handy! (Especially if your GPS is on your phone)
5. Emergency
One last thing before you set out! Check your emergency kit to ensure everything if fully stocked and up to date. Nothing worse than to have an emergency and not have the necessary tools to handle the situation.
Drive safe on the road! If you are a bit late, you may miss out on the aunt Rhea’s famous gravy, but arrived safe and sound. Have a safe and great Thanksgiving Holiday!
